The Traditional Lantern Exhibition will take place at Bongeunsa Temple in the Gangnam-gu area and display a wide range of lanterns both aesthetically pleasing and historically significant. Traditional Buddhist lanterns take the shape of more than 40 images, including various types of fruits and animals. Also, a variety of materials, such as paper and silk, are used to add a different feel and atmosphere. Each lantern delivers a different meaning depending on its shape and pattern. Most represent health, long life or a good harvest. These exhibits will work to impart the essence of Korean culture through the use of hanji, elegantly dyed Korean paper, and sophisticated patterns.
